On the one hand - this is clever and creative. On the other hand... The manufacturer probably knew this was possible but didn't prescribe this as the way to correct the issue. You can argue that ends justify the means, but again I really have to wonder if the manufacturer agrees. That's important to a lot of people because frankly, they should know what they're doing. It may be that their process errs on the side of the 'average' wrench approaching the problem vs. someone who's being careful. That said - you're one slip from gouging a lobe, and you're prying against a sealing surface. The additional break-down may also reveal additional problems that they'd like to avoid. Finally, from a warranty perspective or customer spend perspective - what got paid for the job? The full pop time it takes, or the time suited to the reduced number of steps? I'm not saying don't pay techs for skill - but this isn't purely skill - it IS deviation from the procedure - he says it right in the video. Don't hate - I'm not judging- I'm just asking.

I have the following question: is it possible to remove the timing cover after you removed the valve cover, i.e. a post accident the car has a broken engine mount on the passenger side as well as pointy mount on the timing cover. I was hoping to remove and replace the timing cover without doing the entire head gasket procedure.

2019 accord head gasket cracked or blown at 50k miles

My fuel gauge works just fine until it reaches about the half full mark so would I be right in assuming that the fuel pump level gauge on he drivers side is the one that isn't working and that the other one on the passenger side is working fine?

I just had my head gasket blow sunday on my 2018 honda accord. Quoted me $6k for a new motor since coolant leaked. Im calling corporate today to see if i can file a claim since looking at the comments i am not the only one with this issue

Nice Video. A few points. Several mentions of the wrong head bolt torque. That’s a serious mistake if true. Might need an update? For the RTV sealer. Not used to glue these engines. “The Right Stuff” is superior and closer to the original. The chain housing does not have any dowels aligning it to the engine. It might be useful to temporarily install the crank balancer pulley before snugging any of the bolts so the seal will run true.

Hey man great video thinking about doing it my self, one question though. So my 08 tahoe lost oil pressure due to oil pressure sensor failing so I replaced the oil pressure sensor and crank shaft sensor, does the loss of oil pressure cause any more damage other than lifters? Will I have to take a look at the oil pump, thank you in advance

Can you add a list of parts needed? I know there are several gaskets to order along with the rockers and rods.

I just bought a 09 Murano and replaced the Accelerator pedal sensor and got no results. (I was told this was the issue) It doesn't rev up. Is this the limp mode low tranny fluid? I didn't check it. I did hear a loud whining when 1st started, I thought it was the pw steering pump. Any help is greatly appreciated!

2017 crv with 102k blew the head gasket. Dealership quoted 7500, the engine bays between these 2 vary but your direction especially with the timing components helped alot, thank you.

ok maybe a silly question. But where was the failure with the oil cooler? Was it cracked? Where did the oil actually come from? thanks great video - going to use this to do mine. And I just changed my spark plugs 3 months ago but didn't notice this till I looked under the car and my pan was wet with oil just like you showed. ty where was the failure?
